WIMP will be a 32-bit MS-Windows application." Project team consists of: Jukka Muhonen, m127263@cs.tut.fi Ari Nuutinen, n116500@cs.tut.fi Tero Paananen, p116711@cs.tut.fi Sami Tikkanen, t130227@cs.tut.fi Jukka and Ari will be in charge of the GUI. Sami and me will work on the server-client communication and the internal database. EmpFront -- EmpFront, an Amiga Empire client 8 Mar 95: " I have started coding EmpFront, an Amiga Empire client program. The first alpha version should become available on my web page (http://www.iucf.indiana.edu/~ejames/e/empfront/empfront.html) in a few days. A fully functional client should be out in a month or two. EmpireToolkit -- The Empire2 EmpireToolkit 2 Oct 95:"I am writing a database manager that all Empire clients can link with to communicate with the Empire2 server using the new C_SYNC protocol" lafe -- Latency Free Empire 18 Nov 95: "emp_client needed readline, so I'm working on an async client with readline. Figured out how to do it (if new lines show up in the middle of readline, it spits them out and redisplays the line)." Empire3.2 -- The new Empire 3.2 Server 6 Mar 96: "The mods we are putting in are all of Pat's and my changes to include mob_access, EURO mods, the new time-delay Market, loans that work (including the shark command) the anti command, a bunch of other stuff in general.:)" NT client -- Windows NT Empire client 7 Feb 96: "I am in the process of writing a Windows NT version of an Empire client, and just picked up the C_SYNC specs and the version of the source located in the player/tools directory on the Planet's Empire archive site. I looked at the Readme and noticed that porting to Windows has not yet been considered, so I will look into this if I get a chance. I would very much like to include C_SYNC capabilities into this client, as it would greatly facilitate manipulating and parsing sector data." xemp -- X Empire 9 Nov 95: "I'm currently doing lots of major chopping on xemp - should come out with xm_emp and xaw_emp with a bit of luck. The C_SYNC stuff features in my plans too!" 28 Sept 95: "A new version of xemp 5.1 which works with the new empire server (as well as old versions). This has support for most of the new server features and syntaxes, has a number of bugs fixed, and compiles and runs on a number of platforms. Coding is still continuing on improving the interface and keeping up with the lastest server." MEC2.0 -- Macintosh Empire Client version 2.0 3 Feb 96: "I'm working on version 2.x now. I expect v2.0 out in February (maybe March? Arggh! Real life, sorry!). Here is a rough sketch of my working plan: v2.0 - multiple connections, saved games, log window v2.1 - mecsh (shell features): multiple commands per line "<cmd1><cmd2>...", sub-prompt switches "<cmd1>?<cmd2>", redirect "> >> >!", pipe "|" (though I'm not sure what it will pipe to yet, maybe when I implement Tools I can implement UNIX tools like grep, tr, etc.), scripting "exec <script>" (with script editing in MEC or your favorite editor) v2.2 - aliases history support v2.3 - EmpireToolkit support (well, my version of it) database window v2.4 - Tools (ala pei - nova, cmvr, etc.) v2.5 - Map window v?.? - Mailbox On-line Help etc." genie-1.0 -- GNU Emacs's Nifty Interface to Empire 1.0 1 Dec 95: "In the near future, I plan to add Empire2 compatability, replace the parser with a C_SYNC parser, enhance the map, highlighting, and mouse interfece. Further down the road, I forsee addung Gnus for communication (tele, news, etc), tools, and support for multiple connections." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
