I waited this long because, i couldn't contribute any knowledge of kites (since i had none), and most of my questions have been answered through "ftp.hawaii.edu", this has been a great resource. I have ended my lurking because, i have a couple of questions that the FAQ was not able to answer. Right now i'm intrested in Fighter Kites. I bought a book called "Fighter Kites" by Philippe Gallot. I got the book from Into the Wind. I also got a "Windmill Hata", Traditional Indian Fighter, and a couple of plastic Delta's for my son's (4 & 6 years old). Anyway, what is a good source for bamboo? I have read about the roll up blinds, however, it seems that now-a-days these type of blinds are made of plastic, or some light weight reed. Ive tried a couple of craft/hobby stores, any other suggestions? I'd like to build my own fighters, for starts, then mabye i'll consider some of the stunters. BTW, any opinions on some of the Intermediate stunters sold by Into the Wind (i.e., mini ZR1 or the mini Lotus). I particularly like the price of these. :) Also, how do i read the "archive" files on "ftp.hawaii.edu". Thanks Larry = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 21 Mar 1994 12:35:00 -1000 From: hlee@anes.hmc.psu.edu Message-Id: <2D8E1F32@anes.hmc.psu.edu> Organization: Division of Applied Sciences, Harvard University Subject: Lurkers (add me to the list) For anybody in the Washington D.C. area interested in a supply of bamboo, I have friends in that area who are interested in eradicating a large stand of this plant from their backyard. If you would like as much bamboo as these people can convince you to take home, please contact me (via Email, and not through the discussion list) for more info.
